My mission is to help people experience passion and fun in what they do for a living. Work is not a four letter word, but the vehicle to express yourself and do real meaningful good in this world. I help ambitious people develop and maintain practices that enable them to fulfill their ambitions and live a great life.
When I lived in the Netherlands, many people were fond of making the distinction between living to work—which they felt Americans did—and working to live—which they felt they did.
From my perspective you neither work to live, nor live to work. Work is an integral part of life and tolerating work so that you can get to your life is like tolerating the main course so you can get to dessert. They’re both part of your meal. Why not enjoy it all?
David Michaelis said this about the late George Plimpton,
“Everything and everybody in his life was for the purpose of making work into play, and play into work.”
I hope they say the same about me when I’m gone.
